EDUCATION, CONNECTED.Opening doors through collaboration
FOR EMPLOYERS AND INDUSTRY TEAMS

Meet potential. Make it practical.

Bring a clear business brief to an institution-led collaboration, with relevant learner tasks, mentor support and explicit selection responsibilities.

CLARITY BEFORE COMMITMENT

A useful brief opens a better conversation.

Describe the real question, the support your team can provide and what a feasible learner contribution would look like.

Start a conversation
01 /

Start with the actual work.

An employer collaboration is easier to assess when it begins with one relevant question. A research challenge, a supervised project or a workplace conversation may be a suitable starting point. A broad request for talent does not explain the activity learners would undertake.

Share the expected tasks, timing, required tools, mentor availability and any important limitations. Institutions can then consider how the proposal fits their learners and academic responsibilities.

  • Describe one bounded problem or opportunity
  • Explain the practical working conditions
  • Identify the employer contact and mentor
02 /

Make the learning contribution explicit.

A learner project can provide a useful investigation or demonstration without replacing professional delivery. Agree the expected output and distinguish an educational prototype from a production-ready system or a proven commercial result.

The institution determines its academic requirements. Employer feedback can help learners understand practical relevance while leaving assessment responsibility clear.

  • Agree feasible outputs and exclusions
  • Provide timely, specific feedback
  • Keep commercial and academic decisions distinct
03 /

Keep selection in the right hands.

Where an opportunity includes a selection process, the employer should define and communicate relevant criteria and make its own decisions. An introduction through a network does not create a confirmed role or employment commitment.

Use an agreed communication route so essential eligibility, timing and condition updates reach participating institutions consistently.

  • State essential criteria and how they are evidenced
  • Explain the selection process and responsible owner
  • Keep introductions separate from confirmed offers
04 /

Share enough context without exposing private records.

Many learning questions can be explored through approved samples or an anonymised scenario. Decide what information is necessary before giving access to business systems, customer records or confidential documents.

Confirm supervision, information handling, public sharing and other applicable institutional requirements as part of scoping. An initial enquiry is a way to explore fit, not a substitute for those decisions.

  • Use approved information suited to the task
  • Clarify confidentiality and portfolio-sharing limits
  • Review the experience with the institution and learners
Clear expectations matter.

The pathways described here illustrate types of collaboration. They are not live vacancies, guaranteed candidate supply or confirmed programme availability.
